On April 25, the Central Texas Food Bank announced the launch of Austin Restaurant Weeks hosted by Central Texas Food Bank, a delicious promotion that helps you check off your bucket list while raising funds to fight food insecurity. The two-week event runs August 16 through September 3, so you’ll have plenty of time to hit new and old hot spots.

We read about it weekly, we talk about constantly, but only the most deep-pocketed among us can fully experience the booming local restaurant scene. Luckily, eateries all over town will be opening their doors this summer for lunch, dinner, and cocktail hour so you can enjoy the best of Austin at a fraction of the cost.

The new celebration of Austin dining will feel familiar to years past. Although not affiliated with the original Austin Restaurant Week, the promotion follows a similar format of enlisting eateries from across the city to offer prix fixe meals at a discounted cost.

The 9 Best Austin Restaurant Weeks Deal

The inaugural Austin Restaurant Weeks kicks off next week. Participating local restaurants will offer prix fixe lunch and/or dinner specials, which will partially benefit the Central Texas Food Bank. It runs from Thursday, August 16 through Monday, September 3.

Currently, there are 82 Austin restaurants and bars taking part in the 19-day event. Eater combed through all the deals to find the most exciting and best bang-for-your-buck offerings. This includes Southern Fun with braised brisket from Peached Tortilla, Italic’s famous bolognese, a fresh peach salad and cannoli at L’oca d’Oro, and more.

Austin Restaurant Weeks returns better than ever

Over the course of the next two weeks, when you dine out at certain restaurants across Austin, you can help benefit the Central Texas Food Bank. It's all part of a revamped Austin Restaurant Weeks that runs from Aug. 16 and runs through Labor Day, Sept. 3.

In the past, Austin Restaurant Week was run by a third party, but this is the first time Austin Restaurant Weeks (ARW) will benefit the largest food bank in the region.

The new fundraiser, similar to the model implemented in Houston and Dallas, features dozens of bars and restaurants that will offer prix fixe meals and drinks. During the event, a portion of the cost of each prix fixe meal will go directly to the Central Texas Food Bank.

The Central Texas Food Bank works with over 200 social service agencies to feed over 50,000 people each week. Dine out for a cause

The next couple of weeks in Austin will offer diners a chance to eat out at some of Austin’s top restaurants while supporting the community. Austin Restaurant Weeks begin Thursday and run through Sept. 3, with more than 80 restaurants in the area serving fixed menus and a portion of proceeds directly benefiting the Central Texas Food Bank.

Participating restaurants will serve lunch for $25 and offer fixed menus for $35 and $45 at dinner. What kind of impact does that have on the community? Organizers say that for every dinner served, Austin restaurants donate between $5 and $7 to the Central Texas Food Bank. And, with the Food Bank able to create four meals for every dollar raised, a dinner for two could help raise the money to feed up to 50 people.

Austin restaurants team up with Central Texas Food Bank to fight against hunger

Austin's Restaurants Weeks kicked off Thursday to help those in need in the Central Texas community.

"It's the first time I've heard of this so it's cool that it's happening," said Euna Scott, a customer at the Sour Duck Market, a restaurant participating in the Austin Restaurant Weeks.

Hunger is a serious issue in Central Texas. According to Austin's Restaurant Weeks, one in six of our neighbors do not know where their next meal is coming from.

"It's the responsibility to local businesses to be as involved as much as possible, in order to bring awareness and community involvement at this level," said Katon Clayborn, manager at Sour Duck Market.

This city-wide fundraising event is geared towards fighting hunger in Central Texas where on any given day 1 in 6 people go hungry, unsure of when their next meal will come. Portions of each meal will go directly to Central Texas Food Bank and will contribute to the thousands of meals they provide to those in need each year. The Food Bank is able to turn $1 into four meals for fellow Texans, so by participating, Austinites will be dining out for the purpose of feeding others.

Austin Restaurant Weeks Raises Nearly $140K For Food Bank

Austin Restaurant Weeks organizers raised nearly$140,000 at its first fundraising event benefiting the Central Texas Food Bank, officials said Tuesday.

Presented by Tito’s® Handmade Vodka, the fundraiser raised a grand total of $137,408. Officials made the announcement during a reception at the Food Bank on Monday, Oct. 29.

Austin Restaurant Weeks 2018 took place from Aug. 16 through Sept. 3, with participation from more than 80 Austin-area restaurants, bars and breweries featured specially priced lunches, dinners and beverages who donated a portion of the cost of each meal or drink going directly to the Central Texas Food Bank.
