Chef Philip Speer, Owner Comedor Restaurant in Austin, TX

Austin Restaurant Weeks is back for 2023, presented by Tito’s Handmade Vodka® and Delta Airlines. This year’s ARW is set to be extra special, as it announces its first inaugural Chef Ambassador, Philip Speer.

Chef and Owner of Comedor in Austin, TX, Philip has been nominated for four James Beard Foundation Awards in the esteemed Outstanding Pastry Chef category. In addition, he has received abundant recognition from major publications such as the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, GQ Magazine, Texas Monthly, Bon Appetit and many more. Philip is a local legend in the Austin hospitality industry and a long-time supporter of the Central Texas Food Bank.

“I’m so thrilled to be an ambassador for an event that highlights the very best parts of the culinary community in Austin. For two weeks we will showcase the delicious food and hospitality the city has come to be known for, while supporting our struggling neighbors with dignity and compassion,” says Philip.

With cooking experience spanning over the better part of three decades, Philip got his start in professional kitchens right here in Austin. Today, he owns and operates his own restaurant, Comedor, located in downtown Austin.

With a passion for food and hospitality, Philip is excited about the opportunity to support the Central Texas Food Bank by participating in Austin Restaurant Weeks. “First and foremost, we’re in the hospitality business and our literal job and purpose is to serve others,” he shares. “That is why we’re here.”

As a first-time participant in Austin Restaurant Weeks, Comedor will be offering a unique and delicious menu option for those who come in to dine during the event (September 1st though the 17th).
